Low-cost counselling spaces available in central Cardiff

Hello, I’m Simba. I’m a counsellor in my final year of training specialising in person-centred counselling. I work in an integrative way, which means I use learnings from a variety of different schools of counselling, in order to work with your individual process.
Together we can carefully identify, express and work through past or present events and relationships that may have contributed to emotions or issues that you feel ready and comfortable to address, gently navigating what is no longer serving you or the future that you want.
I have three years of experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, addiction, emotional distress and the effects of trauma. As a trauma-informed therapist, I understand that our lived experiences can affect us in many ways, including how safe we feel in our bodies and relationships. Together, we can work on regulating your nervous system, helping to create a sense of safety throughout our sessions.
I offer a space where all parts of you, especially the parts that you might not like, can be met with compassion, curiosity and care. I will walk alongside you for as long as you need me.

Before we begin working together, I offer a 15 minute “get to know each other” session on the phone or online. I invite you to use this to get a sense on whether I feel like the right therapist for you.
After this we will have an initial check-in (this will be a full 50-minute session) where we can talk about what has brought you to therapy. I will share my contract with you, if we choose to work together and then the 12 weeks will begin.
*Number of sessions can be adjusted once discussed and agreed.

Many people come to counselling because they feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, emotionally exhausted or simply not like themselves. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
Counselling offers a confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, addiction, low self-esteem or life transitions, therapy can help you better understand yourself and move towards lasting change.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another.
We'll explore what has brought you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and whether we feel like a good fit. There is no pressure to share everything immediately. We work at a pace that feels safe for you.
Person-centred counselling is based on the belief that you are the expert on your own life.
Rather than telling you what to do, I offer empathy, acceptance and genuine understanding so that you can explore your experiences safely. My role is to walk alongside you while you discover what feels right for you.
Integrative counselling means I draw upon different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs. While my foundation is person-centred therapy, I also integrate ideas from attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, nervous system regulation, mindfulness and other evidence-based approaches where appropriate.
No two people are the same, so therapy shouldn't be either.
Yes.
Therapy can help you understand the underlying causes of anxiety while developing healthier ways of responding to anxious thoughts, emotions and physical sensations.
Together we can explore patterns that may be keeping anxiety going and work towards greater confidence, calm and resilience.
There isn't a set number.
Some people benefit from short-term counselling focused on a specific issue, while others prefer longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns. We'll regularly review how therapy is progressing and make decisions together.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly.
Weekly sessions help build consistency, trust and momentum within the therapeutic relationship.
